Amazon is poised to revolutionize the fresh produce delivery landscape across the United States with a significant expansion of its same-day service.
Currently operational in more than 1,000 cities, the e-commerce giant is set to broaden its reach by adding over 2,300 new cities by year-end.
This development means that locations such as Raleigh, NC; Milwaukee, WI; Tampa, FL; and Columbus, OH, will soon be joined by a multitude of new markets.
The expansion will not only increase availability but also diversify the range of products offered, including produce, dairy, meat, seafood, baked goods, and frozen foods sourced from both local and national vendors.
For Amazon Prime members, this service enhancement translates to more convenience and value, as same-day delivery is free for orders over $25 in most cities.
The company has noted that customers frequently turn to the platform to order produce, which ranks as the most popular category among online grocery shoppers.
Among the top five best-selling items are strawberries, with bananas, Honeycrisp apples, limes, and avocados also making it into the top ten.
This trend aligns with findings from the 2025 U.S. Grocery Store Rankings report by YouGov Platform, which highlights fruits and vegetables as the leading choices for online grocery shoppers.
Amazon’s foray into same-day grocery delivery began in select locations such as Arizona, Florida, and Kansas, with a limited selection of items including bananas, milk, eggs, bread, and ice cream.
The success of these initial offerings has fueled the company’s ambitious expansion strategy.
This move positions Amazon as a formidable player in the online grocery sector, where it is quickly gaining traction as a preferred app for consumers.
As online grocery shopping continues to grow in popularity, Amazon’s expanded reach and diverse product offerings are likely to resonate with a wide array of customers seeking convenience and variety in their grocery shopping experience.
