SIAM 2025 Showcases Agricultural Innovations

Record-breaking SIAM 2025 spotlights drought-resilient innovation, Franco-Moroccan cooperation, and a shift toward agri-services

The 17th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM) concluded successfully in Meknes after a seven-day run from April 21 to 27, 2025.

The event marked a significant milestone by breaking all attendance records, drawing 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries and over a million visitors.

Organizers hailed it as “one of the most dynamic editions in the show’s history.”

This year’s SIAM focused on the pressing challenges facing Moroccan agriculture, which has been struggling after seven consecutive years of drought.

Water stress emerged as a critical concern, with numerous side events and conferences dedicated to addressing this issue.

Exhibitors showcased a range of technological innovations and drought-resistant varieties as potential solutions.

The 2025 edition also continued discussions from the international agricultural show in France, where Morocco was the guest of honor.

In a reciprocal gesture, France was the guest of honor at SIAM 17, with an official delegation present.

This move aims to strengthen ties and cooperation amid tensions over Moroccan exports of fresh produce to France and Europe.

Both countries aim to tackle shared challenges posed by climate change and enhance the periodic exchange of data on agricultural production and trade.

Despite the growth in the number of exhibitors and visitors, the presence of fresh produce growers at SIAM 2025 decreased compared to previous editions.

The exhibition appears to be shifting its focus toward services for growers, machinery, and agricultural inputs, alongside other sectors such as livestock.

Fresh produce was primarily showcased within the stands of the country’s twelve regions, with regional councils rather than individual growers representing exhibitors.

The Comader pavilion, featuring member federations of Moroccan growers from various sectors, remained a bustling hub during the exhibition. This pavilion served as a key meeting point for representatives of fresh produce growers, drawing significant attention from attendees.SIAM 2025 underscored the evolving landscape of Moroccan agriculture, emphasizing the need for innovation and international collaboration to address environmental and trade challenges.
